Memories of Cuba

Perhaps fewer than 5% of non- Latino Americans are interested in travelling to Cuba, but there is so much for everybody to see and do. Pat and I spent 11 of the past 18 months there, almost all of it in Havana. Our many friends and our apartment will surely be missed.

The 2 bedroom + 2 bathroom apartment with 9th floor sun-room overlooking the Malecon between the National Hotel and the US Embassy, about 3 blocks away and three blocks up Linea in the upscale community of Vedado will be leased. The price will be $2400/month, with a minimum 3 month lease, which is not inexpensive to most travelling people, but then neither is Vedado. Contact me if you might be interested.

Starting next winter, hopefully, we will relocate our winter home to South Florida, most likely in the Tampa-St. Pete’s area.

About Cuba, the country has such a different culture than our own, it is difficult to adjust on our return. Vedado and Old Havana are so intense that long-term stay may require a long period of decompression. The move from Havana to Toronto requires two full weeks for us to decompress, whereas on returning from Bahamas I need maybe two days after being away for many months.

This article gives eight good reasons why Cuba might be of interest to adventure travellers.

I can assure you that the two million population metropolis of Havana/Vedado/Miramar are remarkably different!
